Center for Vascular Medicine Opens in Annapolis

Posted November 13, 2019
The Annapolis area’s First Freestanding Center Offering Diagnosis and Outpatient Treatment for Vascular Problems is now open! Annapolis, MD - The Center for Vascular Medicine (CVM) has opened its fifth outpatient vascular center in Maryland. The outpatient facility, located at 108 Forbes St. in Annapolis, is the first in the area to offer minimally invasive vascular procedures outside a hospital setting. It performed its first vascular procedure this week in its state-of-the-art Cath Lab and has been seeing patients since August.

Vascular diseases affect blood vessels (arteries and veins).

Common vascular problems include: Peripheral artery disease (PAD), characterized by a feeling of discomfort in the legs that worsens with excursion goes away with rest. Those at highest risk for PAD include smokers and diabetics. PAD greatly increases the likelihood of having a stroke, heart attack or amputation. Pelvic pain that is caused by vascular congestion. Pelvic pain will affect about 40% of women in their lifetime. Of those women, 10% with pelvic pain are estimated to have vascular congestion. Sanjiv Lakhanpal, MD, board certified Cardiovascular surgeon and CEO of CVM, stated, “Focusing on a single specialty in an outpatient center allows us to charge about half the cost of the same services in a hospital while maintaining very high quality care and satisfied patients. With boutique facilities like CVM, staff and physicians can provide highly personalized care, including helping patients address important lifestyle changes to improve their health.” CVM offers patients a thorough evaluation that include non-invasive tests such as ankle-brachial indices (ABI) and ultrasound. An ABI a test that compares blood pressure at the ankle and the arm. When patients need treatment involving more than just lifestyle changes or medication, the center also can provide interventional therapies that include angioplasty, stenting and atherectomy (a procedure that removes plaque). These procedures are minimally invasive, involving only tiny incisions and fast recovery times. The center offers free, convenient parking, same week appointments, on-time service and other conveniences. Learn more at cvmwp.imageworksdev.com or (888) 206-1110.
