- Eat a proper diet. Start by adding one more serving of a vegetable or fruit to your diet. Vegetables contain fiber and other beneficial nutrients that help keep the heart and body healthy.
- Get good sleep. Sleeping reduces stress and affects your blood pressure and mental health. If you have difficulty falling or staying asleep, or if you find yourself waking up tired, you may want to talk to your primary care physician.
- Manage stress levels. Find ways to reduce stress during the day, because stress is linked to high blood pressure and poor cardiovascular health. If stressful situations can’t be completely eliminated, take breaks throughout the day to relax and calm the mind and body.
- Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day. It doesn’t have to be a tough, intense workout. Even walking around your neighborhood or for a few minutes here and there throughout the day will do wonders for your heart health.
